What forms of payment does the Scottsville Supply Company accept?
On our website we accept all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Discover, MasterCard, American Express) as well as our Scottsville Supply Company gift cards. In-store we also accept the above in addition to cash and checks. A $40.00 fee will be charged for any returned checks. Sorry, no C.O.D.s.
Does the Scottsville Supply charge sales tax?
To comply with the law and satisfy our CPA, the Scottsville Supply must collect Virginia sales tax for in-store purchases and for online orders billed to a Virginia address and/or picked up at our location. Darn laws.
Is the Scottsville Supply Company an awesome place to shop and learn about beekeeping?

Does the Scottsville Supply Company sell Package Bees?
Yes! We sell packages once a year in the spring. Pre-ordering begins in November, so be sure visit our Package Bee page on our website or visit at our store to reserve your bees for 2016 before we sell out! It is first come, first serve. We cannot reserve a package for you without payment.
What is a Package of Bees?
Great question! It is a screened box containing approximately 10,000 worker bees and one caged queen. We offer packages with marked queens and unmarked queens. The marked queen packages sell out faster.
Does the Scottsville Supply Company sell NUCs?
Not this year, but show us there is enough interest in the area, and we will work to source them for the 2017 season. Let us know if you want them! Let us know if you are a local (Central Virginia) supplier – we would love to work with you!
Does the Scottsville Supply Company recycle?
Most definitely. We may even reuse clean packing materials in our shipments to you! This helps reduce our carbon footprint by reducing the frequency of our trips to the local recycling center, and it helps reduce energy usage by the recycling center. We encourage all of our customers to recycle the packaging materials contained with your order.
Who does the Scottsville Supply Company ship with?
We ship with the United Parcel Service (UPS) for several reasons. Please know that UPS cannot deliver to post office boxes. In the future, we hope to add USPS shipping options to help accommodate post office boxes and alternate costs. A remote delivery charge of $3.57 is added to deliveries in remote areas by UPS – not us. If you are in a remote area, per UPS, this charge will be added to your shipping cost. If you are in a residential area, you will be charged an additional residential surcharge.
Please be sure to provide the correct address with your order. UPS charges for incorrect addresses will be forwarded to your bill. UPS charges an additional amount for delivery to rural areas and those charges may also be forwarded to your bill. Note: These shipping charges may not be sufficient for lightweight bulky merchandise or weights over 40 pounds which will be shipped in multiple packages.We reserve the right to bill you for additional shipping charges.
Will Scottsville Supply Company still process orders placed through our website on holidays?
Yes, however, they will not ship for 1-2 business days, as UPS is also not open on our holidays and we allow processing and packaging time for every order to ensure we get it right the first time.
When can I expect my order to arrive?
We typically ship same day through UPS if the order is received by noon; however, we acknowledge it could be 1-2 business days during the busy spring season or holiday.
Please be sure your order is placed by noon on a business day and choose your preferred shipping level at the time of checkout (UPS Next Day Air, UPS Two-Day, etc.) to expedient its arrival to your door.
Does the Scottsville Supply Company ship internationally?
Not at this time.
Does the Scottsville Supply Company offer free shipping?
No, unfortunately we cannot offer free shipping at this time. We do, however, have an option for online shopping and ordering with free local pickup. Not that anyone would shop at work, then swing by the store on their way home and pick up their goodies… And remember, our online prices are the same as in-store prices. We do not mark up online prices in order to offer “free” shipping.
The Scottsville Supply Company works hard every day to avoid backorders. Traditionally if we are out of stock of an item, you should not be able to purchase it through our website. If the stars align, and an order you have placed contains a backordered item, we will contact you concerning the item and your order with an estimated date of delivery.
Sales, Freight & Warranty Information
Scottsville Supply Company warrants its equipment to be free of defects in material and workmanship. If within 30 days of purchase you feel an item to be defective, please return the merchandise along with your sales receipt immediately and we will refund the purchase price along with all transportation charges. Warranty does not cover damage to equipment arising from alteration, abuse or use of product for other than its intended purpose.
Damaged Product Return/Exchange or Order Discrepancies
Please check all your orders immediately upon receipt and contact us by phone, e-mail, or in-person within 7 (seven) days of receiving a damaged item or for any discrepancies. Please do not throw away any packaging or the damaged/incorrect product. We ask that if the carrier (UPS) is the probable cause of the damage that you initiate the damage claim with them. If you need assistance after attempting the claim, please call us and we will help in any way possible. If a discrepancy was made on our end, contact us so we can get the right product to you and have a UPS call tag issued for the original package and product. Regardless of the cause, we will work to get you a replacement and make things right.
What if I need to make a return?
Just don’t want something your purchased or received as a gift, and it is unused? If you are a local resident, please stop by the store with your receipt and the product for a refund. If you do not have a receipt we can make an exchange in-store.
If you cannot make it to our store, please call us at 434-286-2145 or 1-855-233-0545. We ask for the following assistance when making a return:
- Call for Return Authorization, especially if we need to get it shipped back to our store. Please have your order number available (located on your invoice/receipt).
- Item must be in good condition (unused, un-abused, unaltered). If you are returning a damaged product, please see the “Damaged Product Return/Exchange” below.
- Item must be returned within 30 days of receipt.
- Original receipt or a copy of your invoice is required.
We will refund the amount due back to the credit card used or in cash if cash or check was tendered in person. Original shipping charges are non-refundable. You will be responsible for the return shipping costs, and a refund will not be issued until we have received it. Exclusions: Package Bees, Feed & Nutritional Supplements, and Foundations.
What if I need to make an exchange?
Just stop in and see us! We’ll be happy to help. If your order was placed online, you will be responsible for any return shipping costs.
Class Reservation Cancellations
You may cancel your reserved seat in one of our education classes for a refund; however, we must be notified of the cancellation at least 48 hours prior to the class date. This is due a class size limit we adhere to. We cannot issue refunds after the class if you simply fail to attend. We work to be as flexible as possible though we want seats to be available to those who can attend.
We are not responsible for typographical or photographic errors that may appear in any of our material. We reserve the right to make adjustments or corrections due to changing market conditions, product discontinuations or typographical or photographic errors in products.
While we attempt to never change our prices randomly throughout the year, all pricing is subject to change without notice. Our prices fluctuate due to our ability to purchase at a low (or not so low) cost. There is no price difference from our website to our in-store prices. We do our best to price match our brand, Mann Lake Ltd., though it is not always feasible, so you may see a dollar difference here and there on certain products.
We do not sell our mailing lists (electronic or physical) to anyone. All information is kept private and strictly confidential. It is used for internal purposes only. We will make special offerings and mailings periodically. You can exempt yourself from our mail list by notifying us by unsubcribing through the newsletter email received, or by sending us an email, giving us a phone call, or through the USPS mail.
Because conditions of use are beyond our control, we make no warranty or representation, express or implied, except that all products conform to the description provided by the manufacturer on sales literature or product labels. Our liability is limited to the purchase price paid.
Many states and localities have codes and regulations governing sales, construction, installation, and or use of products for certain purposes. While we attempt to assure that our products comply with such codes, we cannot guarantee compliance in every situation. We cannot be responsible for how the product is installed or used.
